Morgan Chrome Wire Wheels

This may not be the appropriate forum but I have just had a new Morgan delivered. It has very "shiny" wire wheels and I would like to stop them rusting particularly at the junction between the spokes and the rim. Suggestions such as WD 40 and Waxoil have been made.
Any better ideas
