Guys, please read this and take it on board. today i had a very lucky escape to what could have been a very hard hit, while going through Hawthorn bend on the Brands GP circuit i had a rear upright failure, the mid corner speed is well over 1oo MPH and i nearly lost the out side rear wheel!. Lesson please take a look at the age of your upright, this could have been a hell of a lot worse.

You are correct it was the hub that fail, by upright I was referring to the up right assembly, you can see its sheared off. As for hours of use very hard for me to say as I did not purchase the car from new, apologies for the poor picture adrenalin rush when changing in out, wanted to get back out.

the stub axle was in one piece as the drive shafts on the SR 3 are floating, the hub snapped just at the end of the shaft! Thus detaching from the upright, I then of course lost drive as there was nothing for the drive shaft to turn

Ron I do use the radical centre tie downs, the are however fully inserted with locating bolts. The up right that broke on me was the rear left and it was six years old, so in my view the two real factors there are load and age., and now they are all new!
