Does anyone know of a U.K. source for 13" slicks (SR1, SR4 sizes) that would be be willing to ship to the US? Trying to get them here through normal sources, have them priced out of reach. I might be able to arrange shipping from this side, but need to find a retailer over there.

I just tried a set of 185/60-13R Toyo R888r on the front and they rub too much. I didn't even drive the car. They would require trimming a bunch of bodywork to work.
You can message me if you like,

Thanks in advance,
Graeme

Most of us that use 13 inch rims have now gone to Pirelli or Avon for slicks but as your asking for a SR1/4 I assume you run slightly narrower rims so not sure what size you need.
I did have a conversation with hptyres.com based in uk and he said Dunlop have started making the compound that we used to use again try them.

The sizes I am looking for are the 175/535-13 & 205/570-13. What size Avons are the closest? We do have an Avon distributor on this side of the pond, but I have not checked with them yet.

SR1 Dunlop treaded are front 160/ 535 r13 and rear 170/ 575 r 13
SR1 Dunlop slick are 190/535/13 and rear are 205/570/13.You may need to raise rear ride height 3-4 turns and/or trim the lip on the left side wheel arch. I have done it no problem and no rubbing. You may need a dry sump on slicks!!

SR1 Pirelli have suggested front 200 /530 13 rear- 225/550-13,I haven't tried them and would need to trial fit to make sure.
PR6 Dunlop size on 13" rim is 190/535/13 same as sr1 and rear 230 570 13 I am told, I believe they are wider rims than sr1/4
The PR6 guys use Pirelli F4 sizes, I think. I don't think you could squeeze the rear f4 tyre under the back of an sr1,I am told wishbones are an issue.
Send Darcy or Josh Smith an email. They ran the Black SR4 and they will have the knowledge of what will fit.
If you want Dunlops, ask Radical uk for a price and then arrange collection via courier to ship to US. I don't think you will get them via Dunlop or any other dealer in those sizes any cheaper.

Darcy's SR4 would of been running the same size as I do on my 6. The wider tyres.
The wishbones are the same on a SR1-4 and a PR6.
Tyres will definitely be cheaper if you go via a Dunlop dealer, won't have the Radical tax added.....

The whole reasoning for asking this question is that Radical U.K. says I have to buy from a US dealer and enjoy the 100% mark-up over the prices I see on the Radical online shop. This is for all parts, not just tires. The quotes I have gotten here are $1900 (usd) and if I could by them directly from the Radical website would be $800-$900 including shipping. That is with the current exchange rate. But I just can't spend that much on a set of tires.

As for the dry sump, Rilltech makes a wet sump pan that they use in the SCCA P1 cars ( http://www.rilltechracing.com/products/index.shtml ) and they are just up the road from me. I have seen it on a supercharged Hayabusa in a Speads P1 car. The data shows the work very well.

The R888r, are 4/10s larger than what is published, and that was a couple of tenths larger than the SR1 tires. They would have have worked very well for a "learning" tire, as they are just a tad softer the the threaded Dunlop, but wider and MUCH cheaper. I won't mind a little trimming of bodywork, but I don't want to reprofile the front sidpods.
That is why I am asking about sizes, I don't want to buy another set, only to find out something won't work.

Thanks,

Matt Graham

Graeme,

Which dealer have you contacted?

The dealer up here in Canada we order parts directly off the UK website, pay the shipping, duty, tax, and the dealer for this regions 'gets a cut.' We don't have to order through a specific dealer. As a result, the price of parts either from the dealer, or through the Radical website, is the same.

On tires, again, our local dealer has prices on tires in line with what the UK website lists.

Matt,
That is very interesting, thanks for sharing. I have spoken with a few dealers, but don't want to publicly dump on them. Maybe I need to reach out to the US rep again.

So far l Iove the SR1, once I get some good tires (sorry, tyres) I can focus on driving it better.

I ended up ordering a set of Pirelli medium slicks in sizes 160/530-13 & 185/570-13. should be a nice intermediate upgrade between the SR1 Cup tires and the SR4 slicks. I will have to change the ride height a little.
We will see how they go!
