It's a real shame especially as I see loads of BMW and Audi estate cars out and about but there you go:

I don't want to turn this into an SUV bashing thread as the F Pace is a good looking car but Jaguar fail to understand that many people need a long boot for various things and SUVs tend to achieve their boot volume by greater height but poor depth. Anyway the new A6 should be out next year and in quattro trim will show Jaguar what it could have done with an AWD XF estate.

PS What I don't understand is that the donor car (XF saloon) exists and it can't be stupidly expensive to change the body B pillar back?

Don't understand it, the Germans sell loads of mid to large sized estate cars in the UK. It's an open goal for Jaguar and they walk away from it.

Well I sat in an F Pace today and the driving position/quality etc is great and the looks are very appealing. Unfortunately the boot volume does come from height rather than length so it rules the car out for me - no ability to carry long objects and back seat passengers. I mentioned this to the salesman and that I would prefer a new shape XF estate. Judging by his reaction I clearly was not been the first person to say this.

I hope that the F Pace sells well as it is probably the best car in it's (s)Pace but it won't be in my garage.

Whatever the real back story is - misquote, comment designed to test opinion etc etc - this is encouraging, thanks for posting.

Understand your thoughts, often we just want some clarity. I also hope that the new Jaguar 4 cylinder petrol engines are good as more and more of us are wanting to pass on diesel.

Well the XF Sportbrake is launched and looks great IMHO. Hopefully they will offer AWD petrol (with more than 250PS) in time.
