I've currently go a 2009 XF with the 3.0 diesel engine. Mine has been mapped by Celtic tuning and is putting out 307bhp and is a really great drive and not at all slow.
I've had it a couple years and fancy a change for another Jag. Being a family man and with a budget of £15,000 I'm limited to another XF (older XJ's aren't to my taste). Now my question is do I go for the 380bhp 5.0 naturally aspirated V8 with a fairly high spec or do I go for an XFR knowing that my budget is limiting me to the bottom end of the market?
Knowing that electric is going to be forced upon us soon, I just want to own at least one V8 before it's too late.

Do you mean XFR?
XKR is unfortunately not practical, rear seats only useful for people without legs. It's about double my budget for a 5 litre as well.

The new shape XJ is very nice but I really want a V8 plus the length of the XJ may be an issue for parking at work.

Have you had any problems with the V8?
My V6 diesel has been absolutely faultless for the two years I've owned it. It occasionally gets confused and gives a fault warning (usually parking brake or parking sensors) but if I restart the ignition it always works fine again.
Mine seems to eat rear pads but I understand that's normal for the XF.

I sort of discounted the SV8 as it's not much more powerful than the 5.0 n/a but I'll look in to what a smaller supercharger pulley and a map does for them.
