I'm looking forward to the delivery of a new XF next month. I intend to get a spare set of rims with winter tyres.

Anyone know where I might purchase a set of rims; I'd be loathe to pay OE prices.

Actually, I haven't had a detailed quote but I got the feeling, from the wheel prices in the accessories, that they were very pricy.

When I bought my current 5 series, I got a set of OE rims and winters for about £1k which I thought was OK.

I'll get a proper quote and see how it goes.

Thanks.

Not getting very far with this.

Haven't had a quote from dealer yet, been waiting a couple of weeks.......

Looking at aftermarket sites, no one offers rims for XF 260, just the old model or the XE, though they seem to be the same fitments.

The real problem is finding out which TPMS valves would be needed and how they are programmed. Do they need pre coding or will the car pick them up?

Any ideas?

Do you really need TPMS for winter tyres that will be used very little?

As for whether the wheel spec is the same as other XFs I'd ask your main dealer service manager. I'd suspect they are, and it will open up much more scope.
I wouldn't be bothered by not having a tpms on the winters but it's now a legal requirement, at least it is to have a functioning tpms, and if the system doesn't recognise the valves it'll throw up a warning all the time.

I take your point about the wheel types. At the end of the day I can just remove a wheel and get the details from the back of it and buy some to that spec.

Well, my dealer quoted me £2200 for 17” and £2500 for 18” rims with winter tyres.

I know I can get a new set of aftermarket wheels and tyres for about £1000 but haven’t yet been able to establish the situation regarding the TPMS sensors.

My dealer tells me that it’s OK to move wheels on the car, the sensors will be picked up, which possibly implies that the correct aftermarket valves would be too.
