Seller had it up as a private ad for a while with no bites I believe. Selling cars privately for thirty grand is a challenge, a lot of buyers will happily pay the extra for dealer backup especially on such a chunky purchase that is the epitome of a discretionary purchase - not many people buying a 10 to 15 year old supercharged 2 door Jaguar are going to take that perceived risk unless the saving is actually worthwhile.

Private buyers really do struggle to accept that they need to be prepared to sell their car for trade in / WBAC or similar + 10% ish. Some sit around unsold for so long they've probably wasted as much on the ads as they could ever hope to make over just punting it on the easy way.

OPs car is a great example, he paid a price that he can be absolutely chuffed with and the seller made a grand or two over trade in. A good deal for everyone, and unlike so many ads a car actually changed hands.

from my experience if you take your time you ll find the right car at the right price. the facelifted xks do command a premium over the earlier cars. I have seen a few convertible R's with around 80k-100k miles advertised around 17-20k and im sure in this environment one could probably get a cleaner example for that price. i have also seen very clean low mileage prefacelift cars advertised for 20-25k, but i think that's unrealistic. on my initial budget of 15k i found a few higher mileage cars 80k+ with 5+ owners and slghtly patchy history. The one i got is a 2 owner 56k fjsh car and left me with a couple of k change from my initial budget so i had to snap it up. it was not a private sale but the dealer that does very high end cars took it in px for a 911 turbo hence he wanted rid.

Thanks ! Tbh I have always been looking at xk’s albeit the x100 hard top only over the last year the x150 grew on me ! Wheels and tyres are as new only thing I want to do is drivers door card the leather has lifted in the middle so need to figure out how to tackle it. There is also a bit of bubbling at the bottom of the door. It’s a small spot so I’m in two minds as to whether I should leave it or sort it
