XJR Fuel filler cap

I have an 1995 XJR Straight 6 supercharged. A completely duff question now: How is rainwater supposed to escape from the fuel filler cap cavity?

There's no drainage hole of any kind and I'm tired of sponging out the water with paper towels before daring to open the submerged fuel cap..

Am I missing something??

AH!!

I'll make sure that's clear! I thought that could be an excess bit of plastic from the mould that shouldn't be there. Duh
