Hi
Can anyone help? I am looking for any info and articles on the LISTER XJ12C Coupes? I have an article from the June 1999 Jaguar World Magazine, but I am sure there must be more info out there. If anyone could direct me to other magazines etc. I would be very grateful. Also do you know any of the history? I think WP Automotive may have built 4 cars but I am not sure. If you own one- I'd love some images!!

Thanks

Hello WDRV12,

The reason I ask is that Ive owned a standard XJC since 1986 and always admired greatly the lister conversions to the coupe. I am not unfortunately in any financial position to purchase a lister XJ12C even if there were any for sale? I understand there may only have been 4 built. The car pictured is the car I remember (NPH913P) but the car featured in the june 1999 Jaguar world is registered 64DPT. These may be one and the same car? Anyway back to the reason for my question. Over the years I collected a couple of articles on the lister XJ12C, but in the last house move managed to loose!! I am after the names of the magazines that the articles were in, so I can replace them. Then if I ever am flush with cash I know what I will want!!

Regards

Thanks for posting the image of your old wide bodied XJC. I understand the car is being rebuilt in Surrey, but I know no more details. Was it quite a wild drive or very refined. I do have a magazine article featuring it, when it was first built for a gent called Brian John Standing.

Wow, jag53c a fantastic find! Did you come across the car recently, or have you owned it for a while? Looks like the body is in fair condition? Is this one XKW836? Oh, lucky to find NOs doors, well done! I’m understand Lister created 5 XJCs, 1 of them had an AJ16 6 cylinder, 4 of them were V12s. One of the V12s is in Norway I believe (with standard width wings) the AJ16 engined Car (standard width wings) is up north being restored the 3rd is slowly being restored in the London area and during restoration has been converted to a wide winged body. If you are lucky enough to have XKW836, the only car not found is PEN50/ NPH913P. Are you based in the south east?
I look forward with great interest the progress with your car and wish you all the best. Please, please keep me posted!

Hi,
I am wondering if there would be any interest in me attempting to put together a little potted history of the Lister Coupes, as best I know.
It may not end up 100% complete as there would be holes, but by doing this it may provoke discussion and more history may come out of the woodwork?

Have a look at the Arden jaguar website...their XJ12 series 3 front spoiler creates a great look, but is very expensive now....

Hi Jag53c,
I would love to know what the Bodyshop who widened this Lister’s wings say when you ask the same question about widening yours?

If you end up using the company that did the wings and quarter panels on the black coupe, there won’t be any need for filler!👍

This is an image of a Lister XJ rear suspension assembly. Very different to the standard Jaguar XJ configuration.

Hi Jag53c,
It may be worth asking on any Australian XJ sites as I think some of the coupe sold in Australia had the spoilers fitted as an option, or were in the boot!!

Hi,
You’re probably right about the cost. I spoke with the same coach work company that did the wide body conversion on the sister car about 3 years ago and they quoted me a ball park figure of about £12K..........back then.

Hi Mitch,
Good to see your post. I was sorry to hear that the car had to go. My build has been moving so slowly. Got the body jig machined and fabricated so it picks up on all of the factory mounting points and will allow all the rust to be cut out without distorting. Work on removing the panels will start in a couple of months.

Hi,
You may already be aware, Albrex have a website. motortuning.com
Koenig-Specials.com still list them as ‘Price on application’ for their Mercedes and BMW tuning options so could also be a source.
Regards.

Hi, I started this thread back in Monday 8th March 2010, looking for any info on the Lister XJ12C. Since that time I have been lucky to have found and viewed 2 of the original cars featured in this thread, plus know the location of the third. Thank you all for your help.
Now to my story. I purchased my Jaguar XJC back in 1987 and as soon as I could I wanted to modify it (typical 21 year old). Lowered springs and new alloys and tyres made it look super cool, but soon I couldn’t afford to keep it on the road, so I sneaked it into a small shed at my parents house.
A few years later I picked up a copy of Top Car mag with a feature on the Lister XJ12C… I was hooked. One day I wanted to build something similar as I certainly couldn’t afford to buy one!
Here we are many decades later, I still have the XJC that went into the shed decades ago and so the long, slow journey starts to build my Lister XJC tribute…
