Golf MK5 ESP Light - What is the latest?

OH's 07 Golf just started showing the ESP light. Have read all the threads showing likely level of VW contribution to the repair. Car is 62 months old. Does this rule it out of VW's contribution scheme? Car has full VW Service History from the supplying dealer and has covered 50K miles.

What is the likely damage to my wallet?

Car is at the main dealer today. Just got a call from the service rep. Confirmed it is sthe brake booster pump fault. Prescribed the repair kit and told me that VAG will make a 50% contribution to the total cost. With the VW contribution I was quoted £350 inc VAT. He told me total cost was in excess of £600.

I am pleased with the VAG Goodwill contribution but think the dealer is inflating the cost. I've told them to go ahead as I need the car back. I've got a call in to VAG customer services to see what they think I should be paying.

Spoke to a friendly lady at VW customer services. Explained my situation to her. She left me on hold for a long time. Then asked if I would give her permission to contact the main dealer in order to update them on some information they may not have been aware of. I agreed.

One hour later I got a call from the main dealer explaining they had been made aware of further info from VW UK and as a result they were able to confirm that VW UK would be making a 100% contribution. So no cost to me.

I don't think the dealer had been trying to pull a fast one. I think they just hadn't taken the time to exhaust all the avenues with VW UK.

Thanks to cuprabob and the other posters that have contributed to previous threads on this subject. It just goes to show valuable a resource the net can be to a consumer. Hopefully this thread will be of use to others that have the same issue.
