Drivers side Xenon intermittent fault

Hi advice please (dr G?)
Over the last year esp if car has been cleaned or it rains a lot my drivers side xenon cuts out and bulb failure comes on. A fiddle with the headlight control seems to reset and the bulb is fine again. Had it briefly checked by local specialist who couldn't find anything wrong the day it was serviced but this intermittent problem has stayed and of course is more irritating in winter due to darker hours.... Any ideas for a simple fix or do I need to take to Audi stealer for full diagnostic investigations and loss of £££££££
