Audi A4 B8 1.8 TFSI ....... any issues?
Discussion
Hi,
I’m currently looking for an A4 1.8 TFSI with a manual gearbox (160 or 170 bhp), up to 2 years old. Are there any known issues I need to be aware of with this model and, in particular, does this version of the 1.8 engine suffer from the oil consumption problem associated with the 2.0 TFSI.
Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks to both for the helpful replies.
This is just a quick update to say that I’ve now purchased a 15-plate A4 Avant 1.8 TFSI SE Technik (170bhp). I’ve had it for only a few days but so far, so good and Dr G was spot-on with his comments about it being smooth, quiet and adequately quick. I haven’t done enough mileage yet to get a proper fix on the fuel consumption but the high gearing bodes well for that and certainly gives very relaxed motorway cruising.
Having swapped from my trusty old 54-plate Volvo V70 D5 (10+ years ownership & 143K miles), two differences really stand out so far: first, just how refined the petrol engine is compared with the diesel and, secondly, how much technology has moved on in 10+ years, especially in terms of the “user interfaces”.
Regards
