I have an Audi A6 tdi and I've just been told my abs pump needs replacing. A quick google search shows it's a common fault but at £1930 just for the part alone without fitting I am lost at what to do.

Has anyone got any alternative suggestions? I am amazed at how much the part alone costs, there are some that say it could be just be control unit.

I am not very handy under a bonnet so happy to talk to a specialist, I am based in south east london/kent.

Thanks for al your replies. As advised I had a mechanic send the part off to BBA reman, the part has now been fitted back onto the car and although the common fault has gone (G201) a whole load of other faults have appeared all in relation to the ABS pump. Including some valve sensor and power supply issues. They've checked the fuses and wiring and no problems there.

Does this unit need to be recoded back to my car or is the part just screwed? Just spoke to my local Audi who want £2610 to fix the issue!!
