Hi guys, just wondered if anyone else has experienced an occasional problem with starting an Audi TDi? It's an Audi TT TDi roadster ( of which I have to say is superb in every way) but sometimes it wont just click and start and can take several attempts. Not always, just sometimes. any ideas? ears

I had a 08 reg TT which I had trouble starting every now and again, I'd have to turn it over a couple of times before it would fire up. Seemed to be worse when the engine was warm.

I now have a TDi (A5) and it starts ok if that's any help?

Is it because the glow plugs haven't warmed up enough?

Cold starting issues on a diesel tend to be glow plug related or the fuel.pump not priming correctly.

I had a similar issue on my A6, turned out two glow plugs had failed - this was confirmed by plugging it in at the local garage. Only really noticeable when cold.

Thanks, but when it happens the starter cranks engine for no more than two seconds then it sort of doesn't quite catch and we have to restart again by turning key off then back on and try again, if that makes sense.
