Audi S4 B6 - What can go wrong?

All. I am looking at a Audi S4 B6 - I have found one on Autotrader that has been part exchanged to a garage close by.
The price is quite low, and hte advert states that the car is 'down on power' but no EML light is on.

What could the problem be? I have read that coil packs often go on these.

I have access to a VAG code reader - VCDS - would this show what the problem is?

I am looing for a rolling project car.

No - i have a Porsche Boxster 3.2S for the summer - The S4 is for winter and hence a hardtop for the commute.

Thanks all - I think i will leave that alone. It seems to have disapeared from Ebay too.

I like the idea of the big engine A4 of this vintage, but the engine choices went from small to massive and nothing between. 1.8T or 2.0 TFSI and then nothing until 4.2 V8.....
