Hey all,

Bought this car back in November. Just gone over 100,000 miles but looks and drives like a new car.

I love it - easy cruiser but goes well when you need it to. Yes, the ride can feel a bit harsh on poor road surfaces with those 19" wheels but I can live with that.

I was wondering if other owners can tell me what I should be experiencing when I put the auto box into sport mode - it doesn't really feel that different. You hear about changes to suspension, engine output, gear change etc in sport mode but I suspect in this car the sport setting is just about gear changes? Should changes using the paddles become sharper (they are a bit slow)? Or is it just that the auto box allows the revs to go higher before changing down? Or what??

While I'm here - my adaptive left headlight flickers a bit on bendy back roads when on full beam. It only happens when turning left and then straightening up again. I took it to Audi and they couldn't find anything wrong with it - but then they didn't bother to take it out in darkness on a similar sort of road so how the hell did they expect to find the problem. If it doesn't appear on a diagnostic it doesn't exist as a problem - right??...

So I've read that the wiring sometimes get chaffed behind the headlamp unit. Not surprised with all the movement in these lights. I was wondering also if the actuators attached to the front suspension could be an issue and a good spray with connection cleaner or WD40 in that area might improve things. My money's on a wiring fault.

Finally, just moved to Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric so I'll report on these in a few months. I usually run Michelin but these were a mad price for this size.

Cheers,

Al.

OK, thanks.

Is there a good source for some kind of diagram that explains parts and where they are?

Thanks all,

I'll have a look at those headlights and start by swapping bulbs. There is no record of the bulbs ever having been changed and the Audi main dealer only said that they were a bit 'weak'. I assumed they were just trying to sell me some new bulbs - pricey enough these bulbs but worth doing if it improved performance and gets rid of the occassional flicker.

I'd be pleased to get over 15k miles on any tyre. N.Ireland is a windey A road kindof place with the occassional stretch of good dual carraigeway and short stretches of motorway. Some great driving roads actually when you know where to look.
