Glow plug yellow warning light flashing
Discussion
Hi, I have a 12 reg Audi A1 1.6 Diesel, mileage 85,000, the glow plug yellow warning light flashing, photo attached, I do 60 miles a day mainly on motorway.
I took it to the local garage for a scan and the guy in the garage replace the mass air flow sensor and differential pressure sensor for me and ran the scan again, the data reading fine. But after I drove for 30 miles, the glow plug light come back again, any idea what would be the problem?
Thanks

I remember reading a few similar threads when I used to frequent some Audi forums when I had my A3. From what I remember, there are a few reasons this could happen but the most common was a brake light bulb had gone or the brake light switch was faulty. Might be worth a check as it would be a cheap fix rather than taking it back to a garage.
I bet it's this.Nickyboy said:
That light in my Vectra flashes when the DPF is clogged and needs re-genning
I doubt it is related to the clogged DPF, the DPF yellow light will stay on rather than the glow plug light, normally drive in motorway or A-road in 4th gear at 60mph for 10-20 mins will solve the clogged DPF problem. I am driving the car mainly on motorway and A-road daily, so I don't think the DPF is clogged.Has anyone heard of TPS, I believe it is the VW Groups genuine parts supplier, the mass air flow sensor was bought from them from the garage, see photo attached, I also phoned TPS myself to double check with the part number 03L 906 461, they confirmed it is one of there part. The garage thought there my be fault on the first sensor, so they ordered a second one from TPS again, and it is exactly the same senor, so perhaps I can say there is no problem with the mass air flow sensor itself as it is a genuine part and it has been replaced twice, although the code reading still showing mass air flow fault code.

I’ve had that code come up with a few other things with radiator fan code etc. Turned out to be the inlet valve stuck wide open (butterfly valve) and would not close when the engine was off. It also blew f8 fuse if I recall right. Not sure if similar to yours but does link to airflow.
A quick search on google points also to the EGR valve with your code.

The guy in the forum saying he had black smoke out the exhaust, but I don't have this, I think it might not be same problem?A quick search on google points also to the EGR valve with your code.
