Golf R - 3rd year inspection

Hi Guys,
Hoping Ive put this in the right sub but if not, please do move to the correct location.
Ive got an inspection warning on my dash which falls in line with whats in the service book (the 2 year inspection was done 3 months before the 12 months period was up and wasnt even at 20k miles at that point - just throwing that in there if its relevant)
But I'm a little confused as to what needs to happen and thus what I'm actually supposed to be charged/buy and provide myself to avoid huge costs.
Car is at 26k miles, is bought 2nd hand (1 previous owner), is a 16 plate and the 3 year warranty for it ends in may/june.
My question is: If I book this in at a VW garage assuming nothing is broken, what gets checked and what would the likely cost for this 3rd year inspection be?
Ive never owned a new car that is still under manufacturers warranty so apologies if this is bread and butter!

Ah right - gotcha - thanks for the replies.
So for clarity - this is something I have to do, but can this be done at any VAT registered garage (even if its still in the Manufacturer warranty)?
I only ask as from what I've understood reading around is that it can be cheaper as long as VW approved parts/products are used.

The "delivery inspection carried out on:" states 16/5/16 and Ive just confirmed with the company I bought the car from that the 17th of June is when the warranty runs out.

Will confirm with the dealer if they serviced it before I bought it from them on Monday to maybe help sort this out.
And yes Trevor - Id be looking to keep the car at least another 3 years (so would make the car 5 years old)
