New VW Golf R over 30 weeks delivery time!

Enquired about a brand new VW Golf R today and i was quoted over 30 weeks lead time!
And thats after the factory accept your order, and they aren't accepting orders.
Salesman basically said i would be lucky to see it this year.

Depends how you specced it as basic ones appearing in the dealerships
Its been well publicized on vw forums and youtube channels

I don't know the spec but a friend has been offered this week a March delivery from local VW dealer.

Dealers ordered these cars in November, the delay issues have started in the new year.
Even my friend Transit connect delivery april has been pushed back untill july which causes him an issue as his lease is up when originally due.
