A few days ago my keyfob stopped working (05 A6). I assumed it was the battery even though it had not shown any signs of gradually losing power, just would not work one day. Thankfully I was at home when this happened so used the spare key but if it had happened a day earlier it could have left me stranded and rather embarrassed in France.
I bought a new battery for it but it still does not work. Do I need to re-program or re-initialise it in some way? Don't really want to have to go to the dealers for this if i can avoid it.
Any advice please?
Thanks smile

Thanks for the replies on this. Been a busy week so only just managed to try it out tonight, unlocked the drivers door with the key, tried the ignition on/off unlock button twice but it didn't do anything.
Guess I can live with it for now but will end up getting frustrated and paying the dealer to recode the key again very soon frown

Read the manual mate. Its easy.

Put the key in the drivers door. Press and hold lock or unlock on the fob (it doesnt matter which one). Turn the key to open and hold the key round to the right. You will see the lights on the door locks flash afew times. Your key should now be recoded. All post 2001 audis have this facility i believe. Its all in the owners manual so if in doubt look in there.
