Hi All,

Since owning my Griff I have had a knocking when shutting the drivers door or going over bumps which sounded like the glass hitting metal. I always assumed that the bottom of the frame had worked loose and needed tightening. I always meant to fix it but while it was working I never made it a priority. Silly mistake as the window stopped working in the Pyrenees a couple of weeks ago. When pressing the switch, you can hear the motor working but there is a clicking sound and no window action.

I have just pulled the door trim and door card off and found the following - see pic. It looks like the worm is not located properly and is hitting the window. It looks odd to me as I cant see how the worm would turn when looped as it is currently. Is the worm supposed to run inside the thinnest of the metal mechanism sections?

Assuming it is wrong, I guess that the end that connects to the motor drive has come adrift as the worm was unable to turn.

Any tips on how to address this before I start taking things apart would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Brian

Thanks for that Hedgehopper. That is really helpful. Think I need to remove the mechanism to find out why the worm has come out from the channel. Fingers crossed for an easy fix

Thanks for all the advice above. Today I pulled the glass, motor and mech from the door. Managed to fix the mech and get it all back into the door relatively trouble free. Windows all working again 👍

Hi Steve

All the rubbers were present and in good condition 👍 The rattle was more of a clonk when shutting the door. I am almost certain that it was the worm hitting the window as it does not do it now 👍

Cheers
Brian
