Rover V8 Rocker shaft Pedestal Groves

I’ve have two sets of rockers, one set has groves on the insides of ALL the pedestals and the other set doesn’t have the groves. The groves are similar on all pedestals and run from top to bottom on one side of each pedestal.



I can't see how the groves will make any difference as the oil feeds up the bolt hole into the rocker shaft, but has anyone noticed the goves and have any thoughts on pros or cons?

Thanks for the replies, agreed the groves could promote oil flow but Its confusing because the pedestals don't rock on the shafts so why promote oil flow for the pedestals?
