Seeing a photo of an Intermeccanica Italia I took earlier in the year (in the PH area at Bicester Flywheel) I was doing some reading on Intermeccanica history and the later link to Jack Griffith.

I was then trying to find where Jack Griffith's factory was on Long Island, and Google isn't coming up trumps other than it was a Ford dealer and various others in the Plainview area.

I'm not there or looking to go, but was curious to find out what it is now given the obvious link to all our Griffs, albeit perhaps in name and concept only. Does anyone know?

You might want to try to find a copy of The Griffith Years by Mike Mooney http://www.griffithmotorcars.com/

In it Mike mentions 141 Eileen Way, Syosset, and then 1478 Old Country Road, Plainsville, both are close to the (White-)Griffith Ford dealership in Hicksville NY. A 1957 advert shows this to be on Route 106, North Broadway at the junction with 16th St. Google street view shows a (new) BP garage at the junction. The others are low rise USA.

Some years ago, I had a very pleasant e mail exchange, with someone who's Late Dad had bought a new Griffith from the factory. The car needed a full rebuild, I wanted to buy it, but the $ £ sums didn't add up. Wonder what became of it.

Also, the Griffith brochure was superb. It featured a Griffith in a country lane type setting and trailing far behind was a Series 1 FHC E - Type coupe!
Jaguar must have been furious when they saw it lol.
