500 mystery button

Hi all,

Looking for some help on a button I found while working on fitting a new dash .
The button was tucked in behind the dash. To me it looks part of the original loom . Any ideas ?????

Thanks for the info . What seems strange is it looks original or professionally done.

I’ve already found an additional button for isolating the ignition.
Stupidly the first thing I did when I found it was flick it on and off. So I don’t know what position it was in 🤔.
I try and route it to the glove box, so I can see what it does.

Hi not tired the switch yet!! Still finishing off the new dash to install.

I been deciding whether I dive into some of the suspect wiring.
Having had a look by the battery area. It looks like it can’t wait.!!
Are the front spots normally on a button next to the dash lights ?
Or are they on main beam ?
