Go on then, I give in. How the flippin heck do you fit the chrome insert into the seal?? I can't even get it started. Can I home make some kind of tool to assist me??

it is the chromed plastic. So whats the simple solution?

WD40 and a coathanger twisted into a diamond like the tool. Worked a treat, front and back. And for the areas that didn't quite go in - a gentle tap in with a mallet as suggested. Thanks guys.

Still can't open that chuffing door tho. The mechanism is still locked in place and I have tried everything.
