Basically everything is an option then.
Must admit never seen a p38 with cloth seats.
I’ll have to start viewing cars by the sound of it
Where in South Wales are you? I travelled to Essex for this one. Its was a HSE in a good colour with right interior trim, this one was completely original, with faults! Check Aircon works see if it is on air if the bags and compressor are working. Lots of these have been converted to springs. Must admit never seen a p38 with cloth seats.

I use MDP Landrover in USK for my work when I am busy.
The airbag and compressor is the one thing I have looked into and if I’m honest I would prefer a p38 on airbag rather than springs of which I’m prepared to renew once I find a suitable car. It’s all the other gadgets I haven’t a clue with what’s a diy fix or dealer fix.

vogue or hse - unless buying for mud plugging
No mud plugging for me.I think what’s best that is for sale while I look. Something that has history being dealer first and independent or enthusiast with receipts. Ideally with a working heated front screen, working air con and working air suspension. Mileage is something to think about depending on condition
But no doubt compromises will be made as my budget is a modest 3k

What has made you give up on the classic? The prices on those are doing nothing but going up? Could you keep the classic and still buy a P38?
Originally I bought the classic 5 years ago. She had an mot but did need work. I started to do a rolling restoration, so new brake caliper and discs x4, new brake pipes entirely. Sourced a good second hand aluminium upper tailgate and generally started to buy and replace broken trim etc. Second mot she struggled to pass the emissions test (built without a cat), so now I’m looking at engine overall.Cut long story short, lost my job. New job in South Wales. Family moves to South Wales, poor old Range Rover loses an argument with a tree branch whilst being transported to a rented rural home. Get to buy my new home that requires work. Got ripped off by cowboy builder no money, working and back home making good what cowboy builder did. Range Rover classic has been sat dormant for 4 years and now needs every body repair they are known to suffer from .
Then to top it all off I suffered a stroke the beginning of October at age of 45. Extremely lucky that it didn’t cause any long term lose of function and decided maybe less stress before it kills me. I’m hoping my classic can be sold to part finance a p38. She is a 92 j reg Westminster grey 3.9 vogue se a with 130k and reasonable amount of history. She still fires up and gearbox selects but the steel inner body has let her down.
A p38 can be bought fully working. I don’t have the cash or time anymore to get the repairs done on the classic.
