Morning all,

a friend has decided to get back into the world of landy ownership - hes found a truck he likes and paid a deposit. problem being - its in scotland and he's in london.

its a defender pick-up - 2008 (has been cat C and repaired) - hes due to pick it up this week but has just noticed its down as a 7 seter on the log book (seller sent him some pics of the paperwork). if its a pickup how can it be 7 seats?
he's concerned that its a dodgy conversion after it was written off i.e they put the pick up bed on the new chassis. its got an irish plate on it which is making details about it harder to find out.

hes not concerned about the fact its been written off (it was relatively cheap), its more that the V5 might not have been updated.

any thoughts?

Cheers.

The pictures (and video) the seller sent are of a twin cab pickup.
It’s been heavily modified which is why he likes it.
Just confused as to whether the conversion is legit - I can’t imagin it left the factory as a pick-up whilst listed as a “station wagon”.

ok - so the conversion probably took place when it was written off. i'm guessing there was a shell change and never recorded on the V5.

got written off, bought back, owner decided to add some mods, and then changed the body. hes not particularly bothered but it does seem a little odd to me.

He doesn’t have any further info on who did it, I presume it wasn’t the seller - they neglected to mention any change. It was just something he noticed when he got the pics through over the weekend.

Well, he picked it up.

Huge wobble on the steering above 40mph so the drive was long (562 miles).
The seller knocked a couple of grand off for that and the fact the central locking doesn’t work.

I did warn him!

I’ve got a feeling the chassis is not right.
Tyres are being changed at the weekend. Then the suspension is being stripped out next week.

He basically bought it for going shooting - it’ll end up not getting used very much at all.

Then he’ll try and get rid.

Thank you for your input gents. You can lead a horse to water...
