We currently have a C7 RS6 and a Countryman. Which are both great, however we simply do not have the need for 2 cars. In efforts to be more sensible we'd like to move to a 1 car family (Family = me, my wife, 1 yr old and a cocker spaniel). I've been looking for the ideal 1 car. We need a large boot for buggy, dog and holidays, want lots of comfort and a higher door line for putting the little one in and out. My wife feels more comfortable driving a smaller car and has a history of damaging wheels and 4 corners of our larger cars. (A front wing on an RS6 is beyond expensive). In addition although a Euro 6 diesel is currently exempt from all this noise i'm aware the way the wind is blowing.

So....with all that in mind is the hottest Disco sport perfect for us? Reasonable poke, smaller SUV, large boot 981 litres, tarted up well compared to base models, lots of kit and with current discounts it's not, in my view, expensive. Any reason to think otherwise?

p.s. I like the Disco 5 but its huge for my wife to drive, probably need to be the diesel and it's almost 20k more for similar spec

I don’t think we’ll use the +2 seats much, the allure for me is when you search SUVs with big boots the DS comes in just behind the Disco and above Q7,XC90 etc however reading your experience and varying numbers online I think there is some apples and pears comparisons here. I’ll go have a look with the pup and buggy and see how it fits. I also want to try the 290 engine and see whether it suits the car.

A Disco 5 is future proof size wise for us, it’s just it makes tackling a multi storey car park an extreme sport!

Anyone had experience of this engine in the DS?

I went to LR Burnham on Saturday to have a look and play with the DS and Discovery. It’s good news the pram and dog and isofix all fit in comfortably. The wife was a no on the full Disco as it really stood out how large they are side by side to the DS.

The HSE lux is also full of kit which was a worry coming from a c7 RS6.

The deal was good thanks to Carwow but it will have to be a factory order as the 290 engine is rare, none in stock. I’m not a very patient person so still tbc on whether i’ll order.

For the price, the interior set up, the tech it seems like the winner to me tho.
