Hey guys,

around 4 months ago i bought a 2014 disco 4 (the facelift, SDV6 diesel like 256 hp or something around there) with just under 50 k kilometers from a local big known trustable auto store (traded my freelander(130k) 2 and nissan xtrail(220k, second engine)) and ended up paying 32k euro for it. the prices i see online for disco 4s with 100k kilometers are around 50k so i think i got a good deal.

i have a few VERY important questions.

to the car:

1 owner before me, most kilometers from the highway. he bought the car because the wait for his custom range rover was 9 months but that somehow turned into nearly 2 years and then he didn't accept it anymore (or something like that according to the salesman, was the 7th car i bought off him).

has literally nearly all the extras possible, i think something like close to 90k euro in the brochure.

service at 25k and when i bought it (included with the sale contract + new tires)

great car, love it. has nearly 60k now with no problems.

My questions:

are there any major known problems that come at a specific number of kilometers?

if yes, what are they, how much does it cost and is it worth changing the part before it actually happens?

is there anything important should know about the discovery 4? i did alot of research before buying and i know alot but you never know if theres anything else.

is there anything aftermarket worth buying? (EU legal)

When should i do oil/transmission/coolant fluid changes? id rather be more safe then what it says in the handbook. can i even do them on my own without having any trouble?

pic of the car is when i saw it at the dealership.

love the car, i am now officially part of the discovery family.

cheers

The internet will tell you that these will explode at anytime.

In my experience of having a 2013 Disco 4 with nearly 130K Miles + Disco 3 was fine and with no problems. Just service it regular, change the cam belt around 90K miles and use good tyres on all 4 wheels.

Others on here will be able to advise on more specific technical points but enjoy it and just remember these are 2.5ton twin chassis 4x4's. Engine, transmition, brakes, steering will be under much more stress than a small SUV or freelander so thing will wear out and need replacing at some point.

However they are worth every penny so look after it and carry out preventative maintenance rather than reactive maintenance.
why do alot of people say they "explode" after a while?

i mean i understand nothing is perfect and not everyone loves the same car but in my opinion they are well built. yes the maintenence is on the higher side but every car needs maintenence one way or the other.

are discos really as bad as toyota and jeep lovers say?
