I have a big want for one of these. Scared I'll blow my bks off with the running costs though..

1/ Sorry, daft question but got to ask - what are owners getting mpg combined? I do approx 15k miles/yr - mixture of A roads and country roads. Currently averaging 35-40mpg in my Cayenne V6d. Used to average 15-20mpg in old my 6.2 C63 amg.

2/ Can you run them on normal unleaded or is Super / Vpower recommended?

3/ Servicing costs?

4/ Extended warranty cost?

5/ Reliability?

6/ Depreciation? Sorry to mention the D word but I really haven't a clue on these or LR products in general. Where do people see a 2016 20k mile £70k car in a year or two?

I'm looking to change my Cayenne v6d and thoughts are - Another Cayenne (2016/2017 v8d or 2015/2016 4.8 turbo or 2016 3.6 GTS), RS6 Performance, E63s estate, RRS 3.0d or 4.4d, or possibly an SVR if I can make the man maths stack up smile

Still, if you have the means, buy one well you can still can. As an all round part SUV, part GT it’s awesome.

24mpg is quite respectable. I struggled to get that out of a C63 - and that's a lighter car and 2WD.

Depreciation is my biggest consideration. I couldn't quite afford to spunk £30k in 18 months biggrin

The SVR is still on my radar though - top end (and a bit more) of what I want to spend, but It looks and sounds so damn good that everything else looks normal / boring. I might even look at a 2018 RRS 3.0d - won't have the engine and dynamics of the SVR, but I think now Land Rover have sorted out the styling (especially the rear valance / exhausts) it's quite a good looking thing. Probably the best looking SUV on sale today IMO. I'm struggling to find a replacement to my Cayenne (fantastic car but after 5 years fancy something different) - and having owned and driven SUVs, pick-ups, and vans over the last 15years I prefer the driving position to a normal car.

Actually I had considered an X5M some time ago - might need to revisit that one - cheers. X6M wouldn't suit I don't think due to shape of roof/back. It's the shape and styling of the SVR that grabs my attention... just been to have a look at a black one today at Derby LR and although it looked pretty good, I do think they look better in blue..

Brill thanks guys. They look and sound fantastic. I do approx 15-18kmiles year, so I'd be doubling fuel costs, possibly a bit more if I put the top shelf stuff in the tank. It's still a car that's on my radar. Cheers

I bought the extended warranty (Car Care Plan), but the car has been perfect. Only bought it because I knew if I didn't something would go wrong.

100% reliable. The only issues have been with the InControl sometimes getting out-of-sync with the water fluid/petrol/tyre pressure lights.

Depreciation. Titanic probably, but I ain't selling.



Epic car.

ETA: And the MY18 cars don't sound as good.

Fantastic reliability! My Cayenne (116k miles) is about to have the engine out for the second time to address a common oil leak problem. First engine out job was at 60k miles rolleyes

I've just had the new shape Cayenne S (440hp) for the last 3 days and best I got out of it was 24mpg - driving very carefully. Driving as I normally would and I averaged 17mpg over 30miles. I didn't like it as much as the previous (my shape) Cayenne either - too much tech and really difficult / frustrating to operate. I couldn't even work out how to get the air flowing out of the side air-vents. The system seemed to throw a few wobbles as well which I suspect was some kind of malfunction. For now the Porsche is definitely off the next car list for me.... unless I find a well spec'd last of the old shape (something like a 66/67 plate) V8d.

I suspect the noise issue in the newer SVR will be down to extra filters in the exhaust?

Trowelhead - I'm actually considering a 3.0d RRS. I'd like to find out more about the V8D RRS but not much info on the internet. I suspect it's not very popular?

I get the 0-60 bit is neither here nor there, but I think where the 4.4 scores is in the torque / flexibility of the engine in day-to-day driving. I've raced my mates 4.4v8d FFRR with my Cayenne V6d and from standstill upto 60/70 theres nothing in it, but after that the v8d starts to pull on me. I think he averages about 30mpg in the v8d FF. What are you getting in the RRS v6d?

Crikey, he's difficult to watch. Him aside though, the SVR sounds like a proper muscle car. Looks good in Estoril blue too.

I went to sniff around a black SVR at Derby LR, and although I liked it, I was also drawn to the 3.0d Autobiography in the showroom. The new revised bumpers have sorted out the styling and IMO it looks pretty close to an SVR now. Out of interest what mpg are you seeing out of your SVR?

I don't know what I was expecting.. but after mulling it over I don't think I could live with the mpg now biggrin

I'm watching the prices / offers of the new RRS - the 2018 AB is nice but more than I want to spend so might have a look at a used new model HSE with wheel upgrade and black pack etc. Also, (may be a bit too big for me) it's hard to ignore what the same or similar money buys you in the FFRR range - I've not had a proper look yet at what's out there but a 2yr old 4.4v8d seems like mega value in comparison..
