Afternoon PH.

Having a few issues with the other half's Evoque, it's a 2015 2.0td4.

Last summer the error message 'No engine restarts in x miles. Incorrect diesel exhaust fluid quality detected' appeared. Usually when this appears it requires an Adblu top up, then the message disappears on the next journey. This didn't happen, so a quick call to LR Assist and they came out, reset the message/counter and all was fine.

A few weeks ago it came up again with the error message so I followed the usual routine of a top up then a run around the block, except it didn't disappear. Left it for the next few trips to see if it hadn't picked up on the refill, but it still didn't disappear. The other half popped in to the local LR garage and they offered to top it up and reset the system again. She declined as she knew we had adblu at home, so I tried another top up but the error message was still there.

She took it back in today to let them do it and reset the system (£30 cost but better than having an error message) to be told it's actually the DPF filter. They want to book it in (approx £120 or so) to inspect it, then a further £1,800 to replace the exhaust system if it turns out to be the DPF.

Has anyone had any experience of this? Everything I seem to find online points to that error message being related to Adblu and not the DPF.

Thanks PH, and apologies for the long post!

Hmm, in my RRS there is an actual warning symbol for the DPF does an Evoque not have the same?
From searching online there does appear to be a specific DPF warning, initially an amber warning light then a red one if a regeneration hasn't been possible. Neither of these have ever appeared in the vehicle.

Edit: just checked the handbook and theres definitely a DPF specific message that would appear.

I've never actually bottomed this out but as I understand you can only top it up so far as the LR system is (I think) pressurised and so in effect properly fills it up. Could be a load of old pony of course but I've only had one refill on mine and LR did it for me gratis (I was actually buying a refill at the time when the sales bloke said they'll do it for free using their system). May be worth getting LR to fill it up for you and seeing if that solves the problem?
The DEF tank is actually full, I believe they said it's a 15l tank and there's currently 14.5 litres in there. The issue seems to be that the sensor hasn't recognised that I've refilled it so hasn't removed the error message, but LR have told my other half they believe it's the DPF that's causing the issue.

You would think that if it was a DPF issue the car would throw up a DPF error message so can't quite work out why they're saying that. Sorry, not much help to you really.
My thoughts exactly, especially given there is a specific DPF warning message. I suspect she dealt with someone that wasn't particularly clued up who has offered to have it booked in to be checked (at my cost as just outside of warranty) and have scaremongered her in to thinking its the DPF.
