I'm thinking about a used L405 Range Rover but would be new to brand so unsure what to look out for. No PH Buying guide yet so would welcome any hint and tips on model year changes, engine choices, trim level. Anything essential to look out for, and anything that I really need to avoid.

Are they generally reliable? Is it worth paying a premium to purchase an 'approved used' car or is a decent Indy a better bet. If the latter, who is good to deal with?

Budget is quite flexible, would be coming from a long line of the usual German suspects.

If there is a decent buying guide anywhere, please point me in the right direction.

Many thanks yo anyone who can spare a moment to reply.

2018 update shouldn't be underestimated. New seats, wider with controls on the door, new exterior lights and styling, new infotainment and improved quality across many places.

As above FFRR has a buying guide.

My questions back to you would be how used, and what type of spec?

Because a 6 year old, 2+ owner, Vogue, fully blacked out is a different proposition to 2 year old, 1 owner, Blue or green AB.
My thinking would be something 2 - 4 years old with c. 30k on the clock.

Wouldn't be going down the gangster spec route...

I'm unsure of engine never mind spec. I would prefer a diesel and understand there are 6 and 8 cylinder engines, probably the 6 cylinder as I won't be towing anything. Is the TDV6 very different to the SDV6?

Spec wise, does a Vogue SE have everything you really need?

Does colour make a difference to resale?
