Velar / F-Pace D200

Has anyone got an experience of either of the above with the D200 engine?
I'm trying to spec one of these up without it costing the earth and the base engine seems a good place to start. I don't need loads of pace but I wouldn't want it to be irritatingly slow.
Would also be interested to know whether it suffers from well-publicised Ingenium diesel issues, or whether JLR has sorted that out now.
Very little written on either on the interweb, as far as I can tell.
