I own a commercial property (shop + office accommodation) which is currently vacant.

I've received a letter from the gas supplier to inform me that the property is now on a deemed contract.

Charges are 5.51p/kWh and an eye watering £3.31 per day standing charge.

I'm already in for £100 for nothing and would like to get this nonsense ended asap.

Can I get a contract in my name?

I've had a look on the Energylinx website but it only looks for business use and requires a business name linked to the property.

I can't see an option for an owner to have a temporary contract.

I need electricity at the property and would like to keep the gas supply connected as well.

If I can get a 1 year contract, will there be any charges associated with ending the contract early when a new tenant moves in?

Thanks - but I think that link is for owners of commercial property to buy gas and electric from BG and then supply them to their tenants.

I may be wrong.
