Leaving AOL - What happens to email accounts?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience of leaving/canceling AOL and if so, what happens to your long standing @aol.com email addresses?

My mum and dad have used AOL at home about 20 years and both have well used email addresses with AOL, plus my dad has one that he uses for his business.

They are all really simple addresses such as [e-mail], so he doesn't want to loose them especially as they are all used frequently especially with his business.

Do AOL cancel your email access after you stop using them for your internet connection or does it carry on for free?
