Monitors like this one - are they actually 12v with a stepped down 240v transformer supply?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S22F350-22-Inch-H...

I'm looking to put one in a motorhome and connect it to something like this to be able to play DVDs.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-DVH-340UB-DVD-Pla...

Would it work?

Ah, that's helpful, thank you. Hadn't thought of checking user manuals, I guess most are on line somewhere.

Tried a few user manuals but couldn't find anything about voltage in them...

I've been looking at Samsung - can be monitor or TV, I want it to connect to a DVD player. Something like this would be perfect but it needs to be 12v so that I can run it from a 12v 'cigarette lighter' type socket.

Or use something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/ring-power-source-invert...

Check the power output is adequate. There are larger capacity ones.
That'll flatten the battery very quickly - they're horrendously inefficient.

How about this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Volt-Freeview-Super-S...
Indeed regarding the inverter. Plus there seems to be something innately wrong about spending money to turn 12v into 240v if it is immediately turned back into 12v again by a transformer.

The link you provided may yet prove to be the answer, I'd just prefer to have a decent make that would hopefully work better and last longer. Not been very convinced by 'no name' AV stuff.

It looks like I'm probably going to be best off taking a chance with a 'no name' on the basis I can just bang the lead into the fag lighter socket and switch it on.

Something like this:

I feel I must be missing something fundamental here - any thoughts?

Why is this TV £300

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cello-Digital-Freeview-Pe...

And this TV, which appears to be identical £170?

Happily it will fit right next to the stereo which is a normal car type with an 'aux' input so I figure I should be able to get a lead that goes from headphones output to the stereo aux input
