Phablet back to small phone, any one done it?
Discussion
Due to dropping and cracking my Nexus 6, I was without a phone, so bought a new Moto g5 in a hurry.
Nice phone, quick enough blah blah, but really struggling with the 5" screen for browsing, wondering whether to persevere with it as it has only been a day, or return for a refund.
Any suggestions for a replacement phablet would be good, I tend to buy nearly new used and Pixal's seem to be £500 ish and not offering more than my 6 did.

A few hours more of using it and decided can't live with a small screen- for example when you write an email on gmail, the keyboard takes up 40% the the screen making it feel cramped.
It's going back. The 5g plus is 5.2" so not sure if worthwhile, will pick up a 6p with its 5.7" or equivalent, lesson learnt.

Put it this way, all those people who took the piss out of the size of my original Samsung Note 1 are now using phones that are at least as big, if not bigger. I couldn't go back to an iPhone 4/5 size phone, it'd drive me mad.
Enjoy the 6P they're cracking phones from what I've heard.

Just got a Xiaomi mi mix. 256gb storage, 6gb ram, 6.4 inch screen, £425 delivered. I can highly recommend it.
¨That looks absolutely stunning! At first I thought "that must be huge", but it's hardly any bigger than my 6P.As above, how are you finding the sound through vibrations?
How about a Samsung S8+ for under £600:

They have locked to Vodafone network and locked to O2 network phones brand new for £580. I got a new one supposedly locked to EE but it was unlocked and it worked with my Vodafone sim as well as my new EE sim.

Was in a similar situation recently (except my S8+ was stolen ) Used a backup Moto G4+ for a few days and things like the keyboard taking up half the screen space was very annoying, and the G4+ isn't even a small phone either. Also the difference between the IPS and Super AMOLED screens is HUGE.
Just get an S8+

As you say it looks huge but isn't. It's barely larger than my note 4.
The vibration thing-the back of the phones vibrates a little. The earpiece doesn't.
Using it as a phone isn't even in my top 5 things I use it for so its a v minor thing
Did the 'big phone years ago with the first Note. The number of people who have said, over the years, I need a phone that size is amazing. I could never go back to a smaller phone. I have the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 6P repalcement is smaller so I didn't change it.
I dropped my Nexus 6 too but sold it on eBay for £30 and bought a 64GB version from eBay for £130 (mine was 32GB). Bargain!
Seriously considering the Xaomi Mix thing. Looks awesome.

That phone looks lovely. Found a Bloke on Internet dropping it at different heights for durability: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeLKqjvmFvQ Minus a case though so not real world.
I've dropped the 6 loads of times, including down the stairs. The penultimate times the case got damaged, and I didn't get around to replacing it or would have probably survived.
6p will do me for now due to price difference as I would be less precious of it (will be used on a mountain bike as well). 6 was fast enough for me, so don't need the 6gb ram of lots of storage space. Will probably get one later down the line, good to see another company keeping Apple and Samsung on their toes.
I should sell the 6, but when I dropped it, the screen went black and response-less so was unable to delete my data from it. Technically it is android encrypted but will need to look into it. Youtube vid shows that screen repair is not too hard if replacing the whole front, but part is £120 so not viable, although battery is also an easy change so it could last a long time.
Thanks all.

Yes, I did the same. Just thought that for £100 for a phone with a bigger memory (and faster?) it wasn't worth the hassle.Edited by hyphen on Thursday 20th July 23:57
Went from 3.5", to 5" to 5.5", now back on 4.7" which I'm convinced is the perfect size. The 5.5" OnePlus done my absolute tits in, wasn't comfortable in my pocket, couldn't type on it one handed (I'm a white van man, it's a necessity ) and it just felt so fragile due to its dimensions, luckily I managed to sell it for pretty much the same price I bought it for after 6months of use due to the manufacturers weird scarcity. The 5" Huawei Honor one was borderline, I got 4 years out of it with relative comfort.
I must say I was deeply disappointed when I was trying to find a smaller phone early this year and found the 'small flagship' market dominated by a grand total of one handsets, that being said I do love my Sony Xperia Z Compact, just seems the perfect size whilst being relatively chunky and 'solid' feeling.

I feel your pain OP.
Have had a Note 4 since it came out and last month it gave up the ghost. Decided I would just wait for the 8 to come out so bought the cheapest android phone that Tesco did...that lasted 3 days until I had to chuck the complete waste of space in the bin. In fairness, my own fault, I use it for emails, netflix, Online payments through my website...the occasional call and text! My phone is everything from my phone to my personal assistant during the day and a cheap bogo just wasn't up to the task.
Still not wanting to spend lots on a phone I would get rid of once the 8 came out I opted for one of these Chinese equivalent phones with a decent size screen and supposedly decent battery...it freezes every time I switch apps and it seems to decide itself when it wants to let me know about incoming emails, business facebook messages etc...all whilst having a little piece of Chinese writing next to every bit of English text on the screen which I am increasingly thinking translates into "haha sucker!"
I'm considering just buying another Note 4 and missing the Note 8 out. I honestly did not realize before this how much I had relied on having a decent quality Phablet and how much of my business/personal life went through it...worryingly I don't consider myself "glued" to my phone either but maybe I am more than I think.

Let me know if you'd be interested in a Note 5 in perfect condition. I have one in a drawer I need to get rid of. Have had a Note 4 since it came out and last month it gave up the ghost.
