...well the top row F keys work so that suggests to me it may not be hardware?

Does anyone know a 'gotcha' on these (Lenovo S21E-20 ) - have tried the F keys and Fn keys as I know you can switch the track pad off and one does have a keyboard symbol but still no keyboard response. Daughter gets into it using the onscreen keyboard currently. Thx if anyone has any tips.

Could be but unlikely. Was thinking of replacing it with this for her if I end up with zero progress tonight winkhttp://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/lap...

That has to be worth a punt - didn't know it was so easy to source them. Have split a laptop before so THANKS!

I had another go using the on screen keyboard (as it gave errors on an external kybd too) and its a registry issue "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". That brings up a lot on Google (sadly) but none of the registry fixes worked and my patience is now expired!

Thanks anyway chaps smile

I think Yoga would be fine for homework and Netflix! Pretty tempted by this below - beefy for the £££ - especially as worried about Lenovo build quality - mouse pad gave up after 14 months so its long been on an external mouse...

That's exactly what I would do as all her stuff is on Dropbox so its an easy re-install but you don't get repair disks these days do you. It came with no OS disk (not that it has a disk drive)! What is the solution to that? New one!
