I read that the S9 was due for release and, as I'm due a phone in May, I'm interested as Android is my preference. Annoyingly it was "supposed" to have been released this week, but it's been put back to February so all there is is rumour and hints... Does anyone know what's true about what it'll be?

Rumoured Specs are:

- 5.8in / 6.2in QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display (570ppi / 529ppi)
- Android 8.0 'O'
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (US) / Samsung Exynos (UK)
- Cat 18 LTE support (1.2Gbps download speeds)
- Display embedded fingerprint scanner
- Dual rear-facing camera
- Bixby AI assistant with dedicated button
- USB-C Uuuuuuurgh, 3.5mm headphone jack
- 4GB RAM and 64GB storage / 4GB RAM and 128GB

I may or may not go down this route though and look at alternate phones....

(Apologies if a thread exists, but I couldn't find it)

Beyond the fingerprint sensor change (which may or may not happen as has apparently been difficult to implement) and the Dual camera, not much's changed from the S8.

I moved from a Nexus 6 to a S8 in November, and have been very impressed, especially as it's been heavily discounted recently.
Am looking at the S8 really and if there's little change, that's what I might go for unless there's a better alternative.

Anything that improves my comedy battery life on my S7 is welcome.

Why uggghhh at usb-c?
Because I've had Android phones and devices for around 10 years and I have many, many USB cables that fit many devices all over the place - I'd need at least 4 new cables (secondary cable in the house, car, office, in bag) to cover me. Then I'll have cables for my ipad and iphone (work devices), kids tablets and the S8 - it'll be a pain, that's all...

S8 comes with usb c cable + charger and 2 adaptors, one of which is a micro usb to usb c, which to be hoenst is all I need, along with some wireless charging pads.
My girlfriend has an S8 and associated adaptors - She's lost them already hehe

I guess I'll be forced to buy some wireless chargers then biggrin

One of my other colleagues; when talking about the iPhone X, thought it was amazing that it had wireless charging, he didn't know how to respond when I told him that my Nokia from 5 years ago, had it.
My palm pre had it from even longer ago than that biggrin

I've looked over the specs and features and I, too, will admit to being underwhelmed by this - My partner has an S8 and it looks exactly the same. Yes, the camera is better and there will be a few extra good things, but nothing that makes me what to spend a lot on this

I looked on the O2 website (I know there will be cheaper) and the cost of this really staggered me - £49.99 upfront and about £60 odd a month for 2 years? I'll look seriously at the S8 when my upgrade is due in 3 months time.

I'm due an upgrade in October
I'm due in mid-May - I will wait and see what's what with it before commiting. Key to me is battery life which, on the S7, seems pretty poor when you use the phone in the day - I did about 15 minutes of Clash of Clans, about half an hour of Browsing on the internet and Facebook and watched the battery go from 100% to 60% in that time....

Is there a definitive online comparison between the 8 and 9?

I'm not entirely sold on the S9 yet - I had a good look at an S8 last night (my girlfriend has one) and while I like that very much, the S9 needs to be something else special and so far I'm not sufficiently impressed.

I've got until May to decide as that's when my S7 is up for renewal... I usually upgrade early but I'll try to hold off... smile

I looked at the S9 closely and went with the Huawei P20 Pro which gives significantly better photos than the S9 and it was this that was the deal breaker for me really.

The cost difference was staggering too - nearly £20 a month difference...
