Lost Apple earpods

My daughter has lost her earpods. They have also disappeared from her find my iPhone altogether.

My suspicion is that they have been found or stolen and re-registered. Anyone any ideas whether there is any theft protection stopping this happening?

Forgot about this thread.

As predicted I lost my airpods to the daughter.

Then she found hers in the bottom of her school back.
