Looks like the new iPhones will be getting improved batteries.

Could be an early launch this year.

No details on 5G support or is that a given?
Apparently it’s not getting 5g:-

I’m hoping they release a smaller version of the iPhone. The 4 was the perfect size for me as it fitted into my shirt pocket and I could close the button to keep it secure.

You have clearly have had that shirt with a small pocket and a button for a while now.

Why not upgrade your shirt and a new iphone? Win win.

Especially on getting a new shirt!

Ha. Have you tried finding shirts with iPhone sized pockets?

Anyway I just prefer a smaller device.

5g seems something looking for a market. I can see more use in the pro world than consumer.
Probably right but from a marketing point of view launching a new phone with the latest technology isn’t great.

Pity I was expecting at least a coffee maker or a kitchen sink.
There’s the problem. What else can a phone/device be designed to do?

My sister is in the states at the moment. Apple Watch Series 4 is $350 - quite annoying that we get our pants pulled down and have to pay more here?
I bought my Apple Watch 4 in the USA. To be fair the difference is largely the VAT.

If memory serves they hiked a lot of prices when vat went to 20%?

Wonder if we get a drop they will follow suit.

Who am I kidding.
Which party is advocating reducing the VAT rate?

None I can think of.

Latest update from the rumour mill:-

https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/2019-iphones/

Looks like 3 choices of iPhone size but sadly nothing as small as my favourite the iPhone 4. That was a great pocket sized device.

What size does the battery and OS dictate perhaps? My 6s can be atrocious but the recent beta and dark mode means I can get two days (with no use).
There were problems with the battery life on the 6. I upgraded from a 6 to X which was a big improvement.

It’s all a bit boring nowadays isn’t it.

I remember being excited at the iPhone launches but there’s just nothing to expect in this day and age that there is no excitement.

I do have the XS but that’s only for the camera from my previous 7 plus and I don’t think the jump was THAT big in terms of photo quality.

What do we have to expect to be excited again about a phone launch?
That’s the point, what else can they get the phone to do?

I’d have been excited about a folding model but that seems a way off yet.

Large parts of the country don’t even get good 3G. Forget 5G.
That needs to be addressed. There’s an article in todays newspaper about someone who can’t do online shopping as he can’t receive an authorisation code by text from his bank.

I noticed on the iPhone 11 thread a couple of people mentioned a better fingerprint reader (or still having one) would make them upgrade?

I’m guessing they haven’t used Face ID? Whenever I use my iPad with touch ID it feels so slow and ancient am I missing something?
Security?

When I got an iPhone X with face recognition I thought it’d stop my granddaughter ‘stealing’ my phone. Not a chance. She picked up my phone, pointed it towards my face and was gone.

Not used the latest generation of phones with Face ID but do you not still have the option to use a passcode?
Yes there’s that option but I find the face recognition really convenient and my granddaughter isn’t always around.

There is a setting to require 'full attention' or something like that for face ID which would stop a pesky child opening your phone. smile
Yes there is that setting which I have activated. Doesn’t stop her though, she holds the phone to my face so I have to long at it which is enough.

And you can't possibly take your phone away from the child?
Of course I can and do. I’m just saying that the system isn’t as secure as it sounds.
