Following on from the 5 thread here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I've just ordered a 6 Solar which should arrive tomorrow. Therefore going to be selling my 5.

Anyone else made the jump?

I've worn my 5x everyday since I got it, great watch, but finding it difficult to see why I should upgrade.

I'll wait and see if my 5x goes wrong and then maybe replace it.
I have been exactly the same with my 5. Got it December 17 and worn it daily. Hadn't even looked at the 6 until a friend told me he'd got a 6X Solar. The solar bit was the key for me. It spiraled from there. I know its a bit gimmicky, but it's so damn cool. My 5 doesn't have maps either so that's another good reason to upgrade...

You won't regret the upgrade. It's huge.

My solar arrived today. Impressed so far.

Why are none of you using the offer function?

It's rude to barter, I'm English, I prefer to feel like I've been given a huge discount rather than ask for one. laugh
My solar was £850, on sale for £721 and my offer of £600 was countered with £675. Use the offer function!

I don't believe the solar to be worth the extra for all it is able to add. I spoke to them today and they offered me that price on the phone.
My point was make an offer on the sapphire if that's what you want. Don't pay the ticket price. They offered a 6 for £479, not £599 without much resistance.

I’m a bit worried about the size

I’ve got my 47mm 5 on and it’s just about perfect.

Hmmm
No need to worry. I had about 5 mins of thinking "Christ the X is big, should I return it" to not even noticing a difference in size. It's a better profile than the 5 too so doesn't feel as cumbersome. Now wondering why I didn't get the 5X in the past.

I thought my Spitfire Chrono was a lump. For two days.

I thought my Fenix 5 was big and heavy. For two days.

Am trying [not] to find a feature and price grid for the 6/S/X Normal/Pro if anyone has seen one...

Thing is, I don't want a smart watch...

I've got my phone! Plus really not my style, everything I've seen is too dressy.

I do like the idea of a proper activity/fitness tracker, but with some level of GPS and ideally music capability for audio books. Don't want a fitbit band type thing.

I'd probably get a G Shock if it had a HRM, but Casio don't go there for some reason.
I'm selling my Fenix 5 if interested?

How are you finding battery life on the 6?
Extremely impressive. Pulse ox uses a fair amount, I only run it at night and it shows 15 days. Turn it off and you'll see upwards of 21.

Had it a week, and it's been so grey and overcast this is the first time I've seen the solar do anything!

Been wearing mine all week. Love it but...

Can figure out where to see the blood ox measurement it’s supposed to so unless I’ve misunderstood
You need to turn the sensor on.

Hold down menu
Scroll down to Sensor & Accessories
Scroll down to Pulse Oximeter
Set to All Day or Durning Sleep

It's off by default. It eats battery. Mine went from 7 day when "on" to 14 days "at night" to 21 days "off". I've no need for it, as not exactly training at altitude so have left it off.

Solar is a gimmick, add's minimal amounts of charge from what I can tell
So?

Anyone else suffering with Stress readings not reading? Mine is specifically after a run, for the next few hours it just doesn't read stress. Happened for the first time last night, and then again this morning. On both occasions, a restart seems to have resolved the issue.

Haha, nicely played. Check(mate).
So it’s not worth the extra outlay IMO for most users
That's your opinion..I like the fact it'll get an extra day of charge per week, based on a few hours in the sun each day.

My 6X Solar has to go back to Garmin. Keeps thinking I'm at 25000ft when I start an activity, which impacts on performance metrics. Really don't want to be without it for a few days tho, so torn on what to do.

It seems the software updates over the last few months have fixed my issues and I've not had to send my watch back thankfully.
