That's a lot of money to spend on a chromebook - at least you will be getting one of the better ones so your experience will be first class. All in all though it's just another OS and one that relies heavily on being connected online to function at its best (which as long as you are not in the middle of nowhere should be fine).
Which spec did you get?
It's this...........Which spec did you get?

Just been watching Youtube reviews ....... using copious amounts of 'bias confirmation' helps
Cheers all, i've hovered over the cancel button for a while but have just cracked open a can of cider
Looked at Macbook Air but no touchscreen so binned that. I'm fed up with Windows OS and having to fix things to keep it up to speed so binned that.
We have a 27" Mac something in the kitchen which I rarely use as i'm 'lounge' man! Also have access to two ipads but don't like them.
Currently using a Lenovo 12" Yoga 3 which i've really enjoyed over the years but it's on it's last legs. Even the 3 USB ports and the card reader ports are 'worn out' and that's no fun.
I'm certainly not minted, the money is most of an unexpected tax return that came last week.
With hindsight I suppose the 434 model would be more sensible but I'd kick myself for not getting a better spec.

It's here - didn't have chance to tell driver to take it back as i was in the garden so it was just left, it's now on charge and I wont touch it till after Man Utd stuff Bournmouth 5-1
Yippppeeeeee Martial makes it 3-1 as i type.
Anyhow I already have a Google account but would it be better to create a fresh one? Would that leave all the dross and info they have on me behind?

surely you are going to send it back.
It's a gloirified internet browser - and you can get plenty of them for a lot less.
£100 less right now for the same one....
Brain says yes but heart says......I've been playing with it for two days coughing and sneezing all over it (heavy smoker) it doesn't sit right with me to send it back based on a price drop. It's a gloirified internet browser - and you can get plenty of them for a lot less.

So yes on the whole it's a glorified browser but really is a quality bit of kit that gives me what I want with no more hassle. Windows can kiss my arse.
I had cause to use my old laptop last night it was quite a chore! The comparison in speed and screen quality was a real eye opener. So farewell Mr.Gates It was fun but hope your next st is a hedgehog
Nice to hear the positives and advice My thoughts are the OS is gathering momentum at a pace and hopefully the spec of this one (which i believe is expandable) will future proof it for what's to come. Apart from the bombshell that i could have saved £100 quid if i'd waited a couple of days I'm well happy but hey ho that's life.

Never looked at a chromebook before but i browse quite a lot on an old acer laptop with a SSD. Its not too bad but i like the look of a chromebook. Are the more budget friendly ones worth it and still as zippy speed wise?
All i'd want it for really is browsing and the odd bit of work / MS office type stuff
Thanks
Yeh even the cheap ones are fine for that. I still say these days 4GB ram isn't great though. All i'd want it for really is browsing and the odd bit of work / MS office type stuff
Thanks
My LG Chromebase was regularly using all available Ram, You can set it to use the SSD as virtual ram but eventually upped it 8GB for the overhead.
Office wise you will have the choice of free Google Docs or Office 365 (paid).
