6800 XT 16gb.

Kind of disappointed then that the 6900 XT is also 16gb. It's 10fps up on the 6800 XT for $999 ! It's very similar in it's performance/price increase as the 3090 is to the 3080.

Don't buy anything just yet, Nvidia are launching the 3070 tomorrow and they might have a few other announcements then or to come regarding Super or Ti cards.

6800 XT with 16GB memory for less money than the 3080 should sell pretty well.

I imagine Nvidia will panic and release a card with more memory now.
Which is why I think they delayed the 3070 announcement until tomorrow to give them the opportunity to add a few new cards with more VRAM.

Bizarre statement. What about a really good game with ray-tracing?
What's "bizarre"? A crap game with ray-tracing is still a crap game. To me, gameplay is more important than eye-candy.
What games with ray tracing are crap?

Just to weigh in on the Ray Tracing point, I did wonder what the big deal was but I picked up a 3080 and decided to give Control a blast, which is actually a really fun game with a great art direction and styling, but thats besides point. Some of the reflections and stuff you realise are incredibly accurate and it's pretty great to look at, it does add some genuine realism to the game and it happily runs around 80 fps at 3840x1600. It's the future smile

This is a good video to show the difference between screen space reflections and ray tracing.

There's also a Control one

AMD already planning RDNA 3 and it's going to be a game changer (I can't believe I just said that)

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/amd_...

"AMD's RDNA 3 flagship will be a multi-chip design that features 160 CUs and a total of 10,240 stream processors. That's two times as many GPU cores as AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XT, an insanity-tier graphics card that could deliver a greater than 2x performance gain over its predecessor."

Everyone crapping on AMD's new $200 4GB RX 6500 XT GPU and rightly so. No better than 5-6 year old cards (1060 or RX 580) and unless you are running it on a PCIe 4 motherboard you are screwed on PCIe 3 anyway so hardly the first choice for a budget gamer who might be on an older motherboard.

And it is even missing video encoding functions so you'll find it hard to use the card to watch some video playback on your PC, no support for AV1 (like Netflix and youtube soon) - https://youtu.be/ZFpuJqx9Qmw?t=344

Especially when Kitguru found an AMD blog post from 2020 saying 4GB isn't enough for today's gaming - https://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/d...

Someone actually bought one for $549. Unbelievable. $200 more than a GTX 1070, GTX 1080 on US Ebay.
