So - will it be as "game changing" as rumours and the hype which is now starting would suggest ?

My vote is that it will be good, interesting, but probably 50% hype. It's just that Apple will prove again that they cannot do anything "new" but what they do do will be a huge step forward

Yeah - I was/am a bit like that. But Spacial Audio (that I have tried only in AirPods Pro at the moment), and the Computational Audio as in HomePod Mini is quite a revelation in practice. And I am at least partly excited to see (hear) what else they can do......

Here it is, folks.

Sounds like they're leapfrogging the competition on this one....

Lossless on an iPhone with AirPods. It's a bit like feeding strawberries to pigs, isn't it?

Don’t forget to turn on lossless on the Apple Music settings before deciding it’s great biggrin
^^This^^

It takes a few minutes to go through devices setting them up - and I cannot see people bothering anyway. For example Mrs Beano ("I know HOW to use a computer!!!") has no idea what she's listening to... and I've only 10 years experiences of getting to know Macs to have a real inkling of how to set up the thing, generally, to do things I want it to!!! biggrin

But, anyway.....

Try it and see - "YMMV" has never been a truer statement!

(Marvin Gaye has never sounded as good to me, (shiny new M1 iMac) whether APPs or my old Senny HD25s without a hugely expensive set up and more room than I have - and record companies will be scrabbling to remix and refresh their back catalogues so I think we'll hear things better than ever without out-of-reach-audiophile-spending)
