Nvidia RTX 4000 Launch
Discussion
So we are creeping towards the next release rumour is Q3 ?
With my 5900X upgrade from 3700X I would be interested in moving up to a 4080 ( or whatever it's called ) and a 4k monitor to replace my current 1440p 27' and 2070 Super.
Of course the question is would I be able to get one at retail and If I was lucky enough to achieve that probably almost impossible feat would it cost an arm and a leg ?
Now Nvidia has seen that people are prepared to pay will they bump the RRP up for the next gen ? I thought the price of the founders 3080 was excellent and would have paid it if I could have found one.
If that's the case then it looks like my current system my have to last me as long as my 2500k and 970 combo !

It depends how good it is.
If the 4070 is like a 4080, then that's still good value, as it'd be similar to the 4080 initial RRP, which is well beyond the 2080Ti which was even higher RRP.
On balance I'm comfortable with these fairly high prices for very fast GPUs.
It's the lower end stuff that is silly.
Agreed 4070 with 3080 performance at 3080 founders rrp would be a go for me.If the 4070 is like a 4080, then that's still good value, as it'd be similar to the 4080 initial RRP, which is well beyond the 2080Ti which was even higher RRP.

PCIe4x16 bandwidth is enormous.
I’m assuming the very top end 5000 generation might need it at a push?
Listening to the guys over at Hardware Unboxed they think their maybe a pretty large price hike for 4080 and above. Talking $1000 +I’m assuming the very top end 5000 generation might need it at a push?
Like you said earlier If I can pick up a 4070 for 700 quid with 3080 performance or better I will be happy.
Edited to say WTF am I talking about no way the Mrs will let me spend that anyway

RTX 4090 - $1599 from Oct 12th
RTX 4080 (16GB) - $1,199 from November
RTX 4080 (4070 spec) 12GB - $899 from November.
Ouch :-( Refer to my last post on 3000 Series thread RTX 4080 (16GB) - $1,199 from November
RTX 4080 (4070 spec) 12GB - $899 from November.
Looks like i'll be sticking with my 2070 Super mind you at 1440 I cant complain however the PC has been very neglected since I received my Steam Deck.

Nvidia "unlaunching" the 12GB 4080

"The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right. Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing.
So, we’re pressing the “unlaunch” button on the 4080 12GB. The RTX 4080 16GB is amazing and on track to delight gamers everywhere on November 16th."
So they can re-launch it as a 4070 later no doubt.
Wish everyone would just tell them to stick it up their collective arses .... Not because I dont have any spare cash of course...https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/12gb-408...

So I’ve decided to go for a 4070 to replace my 2070 Super. My 2070 cost around £550 so seems like half decent value …. So I certainty can’t be arsed to be sat pressing F4 on some site to buy one.
I’m flying home from the Canaries tomorrow what are the chances I will just be able to pick one up ?
If I can’t just buy one then fk it I’ll stick with the 2070 S I’m sick of all this short supply scalper bullst.
Oh what could I expect to get for the 2070 Super ?

Good chances, depends on non FE prices, I'd say £50 on top of MSRP at least. Scan already have a load listed without prices. Plus I'm sure the FE cards will hang around long enough to get the alert and buy one.Narcisus said:

Average sold prices seem to be around £220-£230, some higher some lower, due to time of day auction completion, weather, drunk bidding etc... - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=2070+super&...Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
