Wireless repeaters

I have a couple of wifi "dead spots" in my humble abode, due to walls.
The lappy just won't get a signal on the living room sofa for example.

As it would be unrealistic to remove walls, and the sofa won't fit in the garden, is there a good (cheap) repeater than anyone can recommend?

I have a netgear WGR614 router broadcasting and netgear card setup (Its a 54mb "G" setup)

As is tradional in these questions, my budget will stretch to about £2.50 or as close as possible to it.
