On logging in to my network this morning, i now ahve around 40 new shortcuts for various things that the company has done.

Is there anyway i can bypass this part of the script so i do not get 40 shortcuts on my desktop everyday.

If not is there any script i can run so i can just predefine which shortcuts they are and run that!!!.

And they have changed the default colour of the desktop to bright green, which is not nice to look at can this be changed automatically?

Unlikely, unless you have admin rights.

The script is run by the server when you log onto the network

I have admin rights on local machine! So i want to try and run a local script to clean up all the mess IT have done.

Why have they put shortcuts on the desktop ? surely if these are shortcuts to network drives they should use drive mappings then you just go through my computer to access data keeping the desktop clean ?

They are just shortcuts to various pages on the intranet site! They should have just put them into the favourites but... logical thinking disappears again

some are for network drives which i dont even have access to so are just dead shortcuts!

Sounds like they have applied a group policy to standardise the machines. If you try and alter things you may well fall foul of company IT policy. The policy will have been applied at domain level so I'm afraid you're probably stuck with it.

I am not bothered about falling foul of the IT policy as i am in a argument over that anyway! see other thread

talk to the it people they might actually be human - trying to get around what theyve done is not going to make you friends and may get u in trouble with your companys it policy. there might be a valid reason for what theyve done ( although admittedly its sounds cack! )

Tried that one and got a load of bull sh1t

Looks like your issues with your IT staff need to be at board level, not messageborad level.

sounds about right! If you've signed the it policy ( havent read the entire other thread ) ure asking for trouble trying to get round what theyve done but that doesnt stop you asking for an explanation why its been done and arguing with that.

I believe this is being raised at the next senior managers meeting... Which i have been drafted in to attend for some reason.. I have also been drafted in to contribute to the new IT policy..
