I'm shopping for a new MAF sensor for my 1999 SLK R170 - I can get a Bosch one for about £150 or they have "copies" on Ebay for about £35 !! are they any good - anyone tried one ?

Thanks
Steve

Thanks for the replies - I must admit I am tempted by the ebay one £35 against £150 maybe worth a punt ?

Still not 100% certain its the MAF - it runs OK until you floor it for a quick getaway for example and the revs hit about 4K and it just hits a flat spot and dies - it doesnt stall just have to let the engine get its breath back and away it goes
If I rev it when stationary it hits 4K and does the same as if its hitting a rev limiter - does this sound like the MAF's gone?

Cheers
Steve

At standstill there is a 4k rev limit, is the cut off whilst driving dead on 4k and in the same manner, soft and feathery or hard and sharp?
interesting description - I thinks its soft - the power just goes ?
