Having had a test drive today in a C63 saloon, I'm teetering on the brink of a purchase. I'm loving the C63 estate (couldn't test drive one today) albeit they seem to suffer from pretty rapid, eye watering depreciation. C43 may be a better option, 4 wheel drive, economy (?!) may be a factor in holding residual value. Anyone have experience of both?? Quite a price hike up from 43 to 63, wondering if the 43 will keep a smile on my face?! Thanks!

Thanks all for replies. It's helping a bit, but when I look at this beast, up for sale in Bristol, it really clouds my judgement!!!!!!

Thanks again everyone!! At the risk of being told, "Get over it mate, it's clearly not the car for you", let me run this past you...

Brand new C63 estate, non extravagant spec, offered at £65k. 24 Monthly payments of £553 (doable), deposit of 15k (makes me wince, lost money, but doable) but a GFV of £36,500, thereby losing a whisker off £30k in two years!! I likely hand the car back and Mercedes put back up for sale at, £44k????

So, why am I still considering it?? My deposit will have evaporated, albeit I will likely have had a fun filled 24 months!!! I simply have that 'C63 itch' that won't go away, no matter what the figures are!!

Sensible advice pls (along the lines of you only live once, do it, would be good!!)

I purchased a C63s estate in March this year, it was 15 months old, just under 9k miles, well specced, Night pack, HUD, few other bits and bobs, paid £51k for it. it is the niice deep blue colour.

I love it to bits, had a few issues with speaks/rattles etc all sorted by my local dealership unnder warranty.

The noise is amazinng, the car is great now.

Must have option is the switchable exhaust so you can leave the car in comfort mode but still have the noisesmile
Can I ask, was that a cash purchase, or PCP? If PCP, did you get a good deal? I'm imagining yes, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here!!!! There's one for sale quite close to me, £56k and pretty much brand new, but APR on used makes it cheaper to buy new, if on a PCP.

What sort of deal have u been offered on pcp out of interest?
See my post at 9.30am. As someone here said, "madness", but I'm still trying to justify a purchase!!! I have to agree though, the sums add up to madness!!!

I've sent off requests to Broadspeed and Coat2coast, I'll update if anything of interest! Test driving C43 this week, so may be a step closer. Thanks all for very helpful input. I know it's the V8 I want, just need to get my head round the money bit! Maybe it's time to buy a car and keep it for years!!!

Did you get any decent quotes in the end? Was it just the C63 you received quotes for or did you get any C43 prices?
I only had the one quote for the 43, (from Carwow), which was on a brand new, well spec'd estate, £15k deposit, and 24x £394. Had a test drive in a C43 estate, lovely car, and as you'd expect, not quite the beast that the C63 is, but very fast, and feels more planted, owing to 4WD. It did feel a bit cramped, but the car I drove had the night pack, in diamond white and it looked superb, (at Beaconsfield) but didn't have the switchable exhaust, which was a pity. When I test drove the C63 the other day, it did have the switchable exhaust, and my god it sounded incredible!!!!! I really wish Mercedes did extended test drives - although I get why they don't, but It's hard to shell out £50k plus on the back of a 15 min blast.

I reckon it's an age thing, but I'm loving Mercs these days and it can only be a matter of time before I throw caution and my marriage to the wind and get a C63!!!!

Yes I know the feeling, currently sitting here wondering if I can justify stumping a chunk of change on the c43. Do you mind me asking what percentage discount you managed to achieve through Carwow? I managed 10% but that was a couple of months ago, wondering if anything had changed since
With dealer discount included, I managed 17% off on a C63, I have to say, Carwow are good!

I've had a number of RWD cars and do love the experience. Having said that, at present I lease a Golf R, I have to say, it's a phenomenal car to drive! It's makes me question why I need a C63! The power is mightily impressive and the handling is superb. I can't really find fault with it, and the all wheel drive is so noticeable in the wet - which it's been a lot lately!! So, I can see the discussion on both sides.
